The Year of the Wood Dragon: Let Your Inner Child Come Out and Play
Dragons, majestic creatures of myth and legend, have captivated our imagination for millennia. Across diverse cultures, these mythical beings symbolize power, protection, wisdom, and transformation.
As a child of the 80’s, one of my favorite movies of all time, on constant repeat until it drove my parents crazy, was The Neverending Story. Little me envied Moon Child’s headdress and her heavenly abode (even though she got none of the adventure), Atreyu’s action-packed adventure, and more than anything, of course, his trusted companion, Falkor, the Luck Dragon: hands-down my favorite in the story. Didn’t we all want our own Falkor?! Don’t we still? I confess, I do!
I share this with you because as we continue to celebrate Chinese New Year, we invite the energy of the Wood Dragon into our lives—a symbol of growth, vitality, and renewal. This auspicious time encourages us to reconnect with our inner child, tapping into the boundless creativity and imagination that resides within each of us. Just as children embrace the fantastical, we can learn to see the world through fresh eyes, filled with wonder and awe for the magic that surrounds us.
The Wood Dragon's energy makes a harmonious match with the innovative nature of Aquarius, the visionary water bearer of the zodiac. By inviting creative play and combining it with Aquarian ideals, we create opportunities to alchemize our ideas into innovative, inspired action for the greater good. Creativity and innovation are not separate entities, but symbiotic forces that propel us towards a future filled with hope and possibility.
